AI Test Case Generator
Paste a user story or feature description and get manual test cases with steps, expected results and severity. Free, with no sign-up.
What are you testing?
Paste a feature description, user story, or requirements — TestOptim AI will generate a set of test cases you can use right away.
How the test case generator works
1. Describe the feature
Paste a user story, acceptance criteria or a few sentences about what the feature does. Up to 2,000 characters.
2. Get a ranked set of test cases
Usually 5 to 10. The happy path comes first, then the negative and edge cases that matter most. Each case has steps a tester can follow and an observable expected result.
3. Copy them where you work
Copy every case as Markdown into a ticket, a test plan, a spreadsheet or your test management tool.
What a good test case looks like
Every case the generator writes follows the same shape. Here is one for a password reset story where links are valid for one hour.
Reset link expires after one hour
Steps
- Request a password reset for a registered email
- Wait more than one hour
- Open the reset link from the email
Expected result
The page says the link has expired and offers to send a new one. The password is unchanged.
How severity is assigned
- Critical
- The core function or main happy path. If this fails, the feature doesn't work.
- High
- Important behaviour or a common negative case, such as a wrong password.
- Medium
- Secondary behaviour or an edge case most users won't hit.
- Low
- Cosmetic issues or rare edge cases.
How to write a description that gets better test cases
The generator only tests what you describe, so the detail you give is the detail you get back.
Name who does what
"As a signed-in customer, I can…" tells the generator whose permissions and starting state to test.
State the rules
Limits, formats and validation ("at least 8 characters with a number", "codes expire after 24 hours") become boundary and negative cases.
Mention what can go wrong
Error messages, empty states and timeouts you already know about get their own cases.
Keep it to one feature
A focused description gets deeper cases than a page that covers a whole product.
Common questions
Is the test case generator free?
Yes. There's no sign-up and no card. To keep it available for everyone, each visitor can generate test cases 5 times an hour.
What does a generated test case include?
A title, numbered steps a tester can follow, the expected result, and a severity from critical to low. The cases are ordered from the happy path to the less important edge cases.
Does TestOptim keep what I paste?
Your description is sent to our AI model provider to write the test cases. We don't save it to a database or tie it to you, and it's hidden from our session recordings. Still, don't paste passwords, keys or customer data.
Can it write automated tests?
This tool writes manual test cases from a description. TestOptim AI itself goes further: it explores your live web app, generates a test suite from what it finds, runs it in a real browser and reports bugs with steps to reproduce.
How is this different from asking a chatbot?
The generator is tuned for test design: it sticks to what you described, orders cases by importance, gives every case an observable expected result, and returns the same structure every time, so the output is ready to copy into a test plan.
